Come help us support the community! Jefferson County Food Bank Association helps over 3,300 households every month by working together to provide food to those in need in an equitable manner without discrimination.
Location: Port Hadlock, WA + travel in Jefferson County
Summary:
The position is designed to provide support to all four JCFBA food bank locations located in East Jefferson County. This job provides guidance and direction to volunteer staff at each location with a focus on meeting operational standards and compliance, inventory oversight and maintenance of facilities and equipment. The Manager reports to the Executive Director of JCFBA with co-reporting responsibilities to lead volunteers within each of the food bank. This is an at will hourly position with an hourly rate between $25.00 and 27.00 DOE/DOQ. The average work week is 35 hours. A stipend of $300 for health benefits per month is offered. We offer time off for federal holidays, your birthday, two weeks’ vacation and accrued sick leave.
Responsibilities include:
Point of contact for all volunteers and vendors related to inventory, maintenance and operations.
Maintain food inventory:
Work with key volunteer leadership to facilitate weekly ordering of fresh and non-perishable food and supplies from multiple sources.
Place weekly orders from vendors and agency partners to meet food bank demands.
Utilize an inventory database to assist with food-related data and reports.
Be knowledgeable about current food supplies and stock rotation.
Oversee reporting on food inventory for all food banks to federal, state and regional partners (TEFAP, EFAP, WSDA, Food Lifeline, Northwest Harvest, etc.)
Volunteer interactions:
Serve as a resource to volunteers on policy and procedures regarding food safety standards, equipment and facility maintenance, and fleet operations.
Ensure volunteers are engaged, motivated, supported, and properly trained in operating equipment like trucks, warehouse activities, food delivery, handling inventory and supplies at food bank locations.
Maintain records of volunteers requiring special licenses or permits to operate JCFBA equipment or participate in food bank activities.
Serve as back-up driver (truck) as needed.
Oversee warehouse/hub operations at our Tri-Area/Port Hadlock location.
Manage financial and purchasing records for the food banks related to food and supplies.
Supervise fleet maintenance and serve as point of contact for outside mechanical services.
Oversee facility operations and repairs and scheduling of outside vendors as needed.
Set the tone for culturally-sensitive and client-focused customer service for all food bank participants – clients and volunteers.
Maintain a professional and positive working relationship with the board, clients, vendors, volunteers, and donors.
Data collection and periodic preparation of summary reports for use by the Executive
Director that can be shared with external partners or the community at large.
Required Qualities and Skills:
Knowledge of fleet and/or facility maintenance and best practices to ensure compliance standards and worker safety.
Communicates proactively, respectfully and listens well.
Comfortable with volunteers’ autonomy/ownership of their own areas of responsibility.
Collaborative and compassionate.
Able to handle multiple simultaneous crises with self-confidence or assurance, especially when in a demanding situation.
Responds to requests in a timely manner.
Strong communication and customer services skills.
Ability to develop policies and procedures for shared tasks or responsibilities of all the food bank locations.
Has good teaching skills and is willing to learn.
Has excellent time management skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with supervision and/or community service programs – food banks are a plus.
Experience working with low-income families is helpful.
Competency with Microsoft Office software (specifically word processing and spreadsheets).
Familiarity mobile technology devices such as smartphones.
Strong commitment to customer service with de-escalation or conflict resolution skills.
Resident of east Jefferson County or able to relocate to the area.

The physical demands and work environment described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The work environment is primarily in an indoor setting with routine handling of freight-like deliveries at the food bank location and/or at warehouse setting.
Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds.
Work involves standing, walking, stooping, talking, reaching, sitting, bending, kneeling,climbing, grasping, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, and reaching with hands and arms.
Licenses, certificates, & other requirements:
Valid Washington Drivers license.
Reliable personal transportation.
Proof of automobile liability insurance.
Must pass criminal background check.
Food handlers permit within 30 days of employment.
Forklift operation certification within 45 days of employment.
