The Office of Economic Development & Competitiveness (OEDC) is requesting input and seeking to identify potential projects on behalf of the State of Washington that foster economic development through decarbonization of hard-to-decarbonize sectors of the economy.

On March 9, 2026 EDC Team Jefferson presented to the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners on Opportunity Zones, a federal tax incentive program to spur private investments in under-resourced and lower income communities around the country. EDC Team Jefferson submitted an application through the process to obtain status for two census tracts located in Port Townsend and Brinnon and the West End of Jefferson County.

Data were collected through stakeholder meetings, focus groups, interviews, and the Commerce Agritourism Research Project Survey (ARPS).
