EDC Team Jefferson Welcomes Brett Bishop as Economic Development Associate

EDC Team Jefferson is pleased to announced the arrival of Brett Bishop in a newly created role as Economic Development Associate.

Brett will support projects that advance new jobs, business growth, housing, and private investment across Jefferson County. His work includes site and development research, outreach to landowners, businesses, and public partners, and preparation of the written materials and briefings that move priority economic development areas from planning toward implementation. Much of that work centers on the Irondale-Port Hadlock Urban Growth Area, one of the county's most significant near-term development opportunities.

Brett holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Planning and Sustainable Development from Western Washington University, with a specialization in Tribal and Indigenous Planning.  Brett previously worked as a Long Range Planning Intern at Skagit County Planning and Development Services, where he  supported updates to the county's Comprehensive Plan, researching zoning and environmental conditions, and preparing recommendations for county commissioners. He also brings five years of team leadership experience from Whole Foods Market, where he managed staff, coordinated daily operations, and led a sustainability program that reduced store landfill waste by 70 percent.

"Brett is joining us at an important moment for Jefferson County," said David Ballif, Executive Director of EDC Team Jefferson. "We have significant opportunities in Port Hadlock and elsewhere to support new housing, expand businesses, prepare sites for investment, and create good jobs. His planning background gives us additional capacity to take those opportunities from analysis to implementation."
